  After reading all the other negative experiences with this salon, I am not feeling so bad about writing about mine. I am also thankful that I never actually got to the point where I had someone from here touch my hair as it seems most of them did not have positive experiences. I bought a $150 gift card from STUDIO URBANE in June 2012 with the intentions of taking my mom there for hair/makeup services (mother/daughter bonding!). In April of 2013, I went to the salon on Airline to find that the doors were closed and a note on the door said to call Ms Roy to make an appt (so I figured she had just moved locations, no big deal). My gift card had no expiration date printed on it (which by LA LAW means it legally does not expire, ever) but I was still within a year of purchase. Ms Roy never returned my phone calls. After a week or two, I found her email address from her website. More time passed before she responded to that. I told her I would like to make an appt for an upcoming wedding for hair /makeup services. More time passed and by the time she had responded, I had already found another stylist to do our hair. But I told her I would still love to make an appt for a future date and tried to do this as well. But she took so long in btwn responses that after several months of this back and forth, I realized I would never be able to secure an appt with her. I kindly explained at that point, that I would like a refund of my $150 or $150 worth of hair products and I would be happy. It was then that Ms Roy said "oh your gift card expired already!" WHAT? As we know, this is untrue but why would she pretend to honor it for these past few months?? Finally, I told Ms Roy I would be seeking an attorney's advice on the matter and ceased communications with her. She ignored the attorney's attempts at contacting her at her new place SOLA SALONS where I presume she rents space. She is still using the name STUDIO URBANE and had been doing so the entire time. I contacted the BBB. She ignored their attempts to mediate. I contacted the Attorney General's office,, and she also ignored them. To file a lawsuit in small claims court to recoup $150 would cost me about the same and MORE in my time and effort to take her to court, sue her, win and then try to collect a judgment. So I gave Ms Roy one last opportunity to reconcile before I wrote this review, to which she replied that she had "lots of money" and that she would "sue me" for spreading lies about her business, a business she claimed was closed and that I couldn't sue. Check the secretary of state website and you will see that MS ROY and STUDIO URBANE LLC or INC are revoked or not in good standing there either. I have every email for evidence . To sum it up...Ms Roy is a terrible business person with a bad attitude and I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
